Concert advice for people with diabetes!
As i live with the condition, i thought i would give my experience and advice for attending gigs with diabetes.
I have many tricks to help make the gig as enjoyable as possible, some might work for others and some might not work for you, its just finding what helps you as well as, what you find most comfortable! Now, lets get on with some advice.
Firstly, when attending a gig make sure the person you are going with is always going to stay by you and help you if need be, take a friend who knows how to work you blood machine if an emergency occurs!
Also, something i always do is wear a jacket which has loads of pockets! This is so helpful and is at easy access at all times, personally i keep sugar tablets and water in my pockets and of cause my phone to record all the fun, However, if pockets are not for you,i would recommend investing in a small bag, which can hold everything you are going to use or need, usually i take a bag and a jacket full pockets!
In my opinion this advice is for everyone, bring a portable charger! The last thing you want is you're phone to die and need to get in touch with somebody, also make sure when leaving to attend the gig make sure you're phone is on 100% for the same reasons as i mentioned before.
Now personally i think the most important thing to do before a gig when having diabetes is too check you're sugars, and if they are below 9 have something small to eat, (1 biscuit )because you are most probably going to be dancing and moving which is exercise in addition to this, it can cause a low, so take something extra to help prevent a low!
I hope this helped make you're concert more enjoyable and you take the advice and have an amazing time!
